If you are frustrated by feeling as if you are freezing up around attractive people... if you wish that you had the confidence to go and talk to someone you like ... if you'd just like to have the courage to kiss someone ... then help is at hand!

Procrastination can have many causes. Generally these causes are broken down into 2 types. Psychological reasons are related to mental issues while Physiological problems are related to physical problems. We will look closer at the 2 causes below

1. Psychological reasons for procrastination are varied and wide spread. However they usually are related to such issues as:-

Faced with a task that needs to be completed people suffering from psychological procrastination will fall into 3 distinct groups. The first group will be anxious about the task they need to complete. Those with a self defeating mentality will persuade themselves that they will fail even before they started. The final group who have low self worth will think that they don't have the ability to succeed.

For such people they may find that they will unconsciously over or underestimate the scale of the task in hand and this is when procrastination is likely to become a habit with them.

2. Physiological causes are generally linked to the part of the brain which controls ones impulses, the length of their attention span and also the area that helps filter out distractions. This area is know as the PreFrontal Cortex.

Physiological procrastination can appear very similar to ADHD. The procrastination can be caused either by damage to this area of the brain or by a low activation level which is believed to be the root cause of ADHD. Symptoms are a lack of organisation and being unable to filter out distractions.

For people who procrastinate because they feel a task is too overwhelming there are several tactics that work. Firstly divide any tasks you have into small easily manageable chunks. Once you have that then set a deadline for each task and ensure you stick to it.

If you regularly suffer from procrastination you should consider taking action to combat it. Depending on the sort of procrastination you should consider visiting a doctor or a psychiatrist or even a local therapist may be able to help. Very often all that's needed is a program like procrastination blaster which can help rapidly conquer your procrastination.
